Touching Earth Buddha

This Buddha is artfully hand painted in tones that reflect the warmth of the earth. Seated with fingertips of his right hand gently touching the ground, this gesture of touching the earth, or calling the earth to witness, celebrates Gautam Buddha's victory over the demon Mara's attempts to disrupt his meditations under the Bodhi tree.
