Tibetan Buddhists are renowned for their in-depth knowledge of sound and its effect on consciousness. As these bowls are individually spun and hammered from bell metal, mantras (sacred chants) are recited. Vibrations from the mantras are absorbed into metal and released when the bowl is played. A captivating harmonic hum is produced by slowly dragging the wooden dowel along the outside rim of the bowl. This lovely bowl is hand etched with the Om Mani Padme Hum mantra and other auspicious symbols, measures five inches in diameter and comes complete with a wooden striker, resting cushion, and handmade paper box.
