Tibetan Buddhists are renowned for their in-depth knowledge of sound and its effect on consciousness. As these bowls are individually spun and hammered from bell metal, mantras (sacred chants) are recited. Vibrations from the mantras are absorbed in the metal and released when the bowl is played. An enchanting harmonic hum is produced by slowly dragging the wooden dowel along the outside rim of the bowl. This lovely bowl measures five and a half inches in diameter and has the "Om Mani Pad Me Hum" mantra hand etched along the outside with Buddha eyes at it's inner base and a four sided Dorje motif on the exterior bottom. Wooden striker included.
